Sorting Options in Global Search 2.0
Global Search 2.0 offers multiple ways to organize search results. Sorting options help narrow results by key attributes like age and size, making it easier to locate specific articles across Usenet newsgroups.
Available Sorting Options
Age
Sorts search results based on how long ago each article was posted to Usenet. This helps organize results by recency, whether you're looking for newer or older articles.
Size
Sorts results by the total size of the article group. Use this when focusing on articles that match a preferred size range.
Subject
Sorts results alphabetically by the subject line of the article. This option is helpful when grouping articles by similar titles or topics.
Poster
Sorts results alphabetically by the name of the person who posted the article. This helps when tracking articles from a specific source.
Sorting Order
Each sorting option can be applied in ascending or descending order. For example:
-
Age (Descending): Displays the newest articles first.
-
Age (Ascending): Displays the oldest articles first.
-
Size (Descending): Larger articles appear at the top.
-
Size (Ascending): Smaller articles appear at the top.
-
Subject (A–Z): Alphabetically by subject title.
-
Subject (Z–A): Reverse alphabetical by subject title.
-
Poster (A–Z): Alphabetically by poster name.
-
Poster (Z–A): Reverse alphabetical by poster name.
These sorting tools offer flexibility when using Global Search 2.0, especially when refining a search to locate specific articles across billions available in the Usenet archive.
