Setting Up a Newsreader with UsenetServer
Using a newsreader with UsenetServer is pretty straightforward once you know what to look for. Each newsreader might have its own layout and setup process, but the basics are the same across the board.
At a minimum, every newsreader will ask for a few key pieces of information:
-
Server Address: news.usenetserver.com
-
Port Number: 563 for SSL connections, or 119 if you're not using SSL
-
Username and Password: The same login you use to access your UsenetServer account
Some newsreaders might give you more advanced settings like the number of connections or SSL toggles, but most will guide you through those during setup. Once the server info is in place, your newsreader will be ready to connect to the UsenetServer network.
If you're using NZBs from an Indexer, make sure your newsreader supports importing NZBs. Many modern newsreaders do, and some even have built-in search features that tie directly into the UsenetServer backbone.
